PDC manufactures a wide range of Heat Tunnel models; this means we can put the perfect
combination together for your application. Fabricated to the highest standards for the
pharmaceutical, food, beverage and dairy industries, all PDC tunnels are made of heavy gauge
stainless steel and employ top quality control systems that provide highly accurate temperature
controls. For high-speed applications, two or more tunnels might be used in sequence. For special
applications a pre-shrink or post-shrink unit could be used with the tunnel or tunnels.
PDC has the right combination of shrink systems to deliver fantastic looking product, day in and day
out. We would be pleased to run shrink tests or provide samples of your product run on a PDC
shrink system.
All PDC Hot Air and Radiant Tunnels are of Dual Wall Construction, which:
 |
Re-circulates the hot air, directing it back into the blowers, providing the greatest possible energy
efficiency, |
 |
And is safe for operators in that the outer skin is only warm to the touch, preventing the possibility of
exposure to high temperatures. |
PDC’s Proprietary Steam Control Systems
PDC’s state-of-the-art steam tunnels and advanced steam control systems are based on our many
years of experience with this technology and provide superior shrinking and consistent product
appearance. PDC’s unique system filters and dries the steam prior to delivering it precisely to
certain areas of the package. A typical configuration will have four zones (with eight or ten pipes
each, easy to access and adjust) for directing the steam, and two digital thermostatic controllers, for
extremely precise heat application and the most attractive final package. |

Pre-Shrink Systems - provide the focused application of hot air to a band (or sleeve) just after the application, to anchor its position prior to entering
the a shrink tunnel. It may have a manifold, which distributes the hot air over a larger surface, or a simple nozzle, which focuses a stream of air at
one point.
Post-Shrink Systems - also provide focused heat, but are used after the shrink tunnel to finish the
shrink in a specific area, such as a bottom underlap, or the neck finish, near the closure of a bottle.
Both Pre- and Post-Shrink Systems come with a stainless steel adjustable mounting, air regulator
and filter, and fused disconnect. They are available in both 240 and 480 VAC versions.
High Performance at
all
times- PDC’s proprietary
Steam Controls are precise and responsive, providing exceptional
shrink quality under all conditions; under full load, or during line
starts and stops. PDC’s
control systems produce consistent product all the time.
Steam Tunnel Optional Features
include:
 | Cantilevered
Tunnel Stands
– for easily pivoting the tunnel up away from the
conveyor.
|
 | Steam
Filters
– for cleaning and drying the steam
|
 | Culinary
Upgrade
– Complete stainless steel construction, including all
piping, to provide a culinary grade steam environment
|
 | Heated
Shrouds
– Heated channels within the steam tunnel which cover
the orifice of empty bottles, eliminating the possibility of any
condensate drip.
|
|
Hot Air Tunnel Optional Features
include:
 | High and Low Temperature Alarms – these monitor the controller and will not allow the system to
run if it is not in range. |
 | Power/Auto Lift Tunnel Stands – provide motorized height adjustment, for easily adjusting height
while running or expediting changeovers. This stand also acts as a fused disconnect for the Shrink
Tunnel, eliminating the need to provide a remote disconnect. St. steel construction with NEMA-4X
electrical enclosures. |
 | UL Approved versions of the Heat Tunnel and Power/Auto Lift – when purchased together, these
components can be upgraded to receive the UL approved label. |
