Multipacking:
PDC Multipackers and
Twin Packers

PDC multipacking and twin packing systems are a leading choice for consumer product manufacturers who require inline multipackers, or multipackers mounted on a conveyor off the primary line.  When twin packs are needed, product is diverted onto the spur conveyor, through the machine and shrink tunnel and then packed off.  Systems can also be set up off-line, in a production or distribution area, for twin packing on an “as needed” basis.

PDC Beverage multipackers accommodate rigid packages, cartons, bottles, cans and special shapes.  Pharmaceutical multipackers from PDC are well-suited to boxes, bottles and blister-packs.  PDC multipacking systems are used most often when packages are identical, but adapt well to programs involving packages that are different in type and size. PDC multipackers are manufactured in semi-automated and fully-automated configurations.  PLC controls and touch screen operator interfaces are supplied for most multipacking systems. Sleeves for multipackers can be printed with graphics, eliminating the need to orient the product within the pack.

Unilever Chooses PDC Twin Pack Technology

September, 2008.  The Unilever Personal Products Division has chosen PDC to supply a multipacking and shrink labeling system for their market-leading deodorant brands.  Deodorants is Unilever’s fastest growing sector.

Packed for club stores, the twin packs offer value and high product visibility, with the shrink sleeve label used to group the products together. PDC’s R-300 Multipacker features special product handling which pairs the products in dual counter rotating timing screws, then hands them off to servo controlled gripper belts. This allows precise product handling and optimal presentation of the packages for the sleeving process.

The PDC system complies with Unilever’s rigorous TPM (Total Productive Maintenance) Program,thanks to features and benefits that include visual indicators, ease of operation, and the ability to make quick repeatable changeovers without adjustments.
